The Carnivore Journey

The Carnivore Diet

Over the past year and a half, I have decided to change my diet from a Standard American Diet (SAD) which consist of carbs, seed oils, and more to a carnivore diet which consist of meats, fats, and redmond salts. At the beginning, I was dealing with different diseases and autoimmune issues where I have tried all kinds of steroids to calm my skins. I even was told I was prediabetic which led to more stress that put my body into disarray. I want to share my experience with the carnivore diet where my skin healed from what I ate and my mental cognition improved.

I have lived with eczema all my life and psoriasis in my recent years. There was major fluctuation with how my eczema will flare up and disappear, but still linger in small patches around my body. I have gone to dermatologist and my primary care who just prescribe me ointments, steroids, and pills that would lower my immune systems. All of these have major impact on your kidneys and my hormones because it slows and even stops my natural production that protects my skin. As I approach on changing my lifestyle, like cutting out dietary allergies, my environments, and what I am wearing. I avoid dairy and shellfish where I have known it causes gut issues and my skin to flare up. I have try to change my environment like work environment and physical location because it effects so much on how you feel mentally. The biggest thing I am still struggling is that certain material that I wear will try contact dermatitis or an allergic reaction. I try to stay with cotton and some synthetic cloths when it comes to my clothes. Detergent plays a big one where the chemical in detergent can and will irritate your skin. I avoid using fabric softeners and go for dye free detergent like Seventh generation or All clear. There has been some changes to my health as I made these changes, but as I move around and lack some control over how my clothes is being wash, it does hurt physically as I get flares up here and there. I will talk more about how my environment changes helps me and my clothes play into this. Regarding my diet, I changed everything and it wasn’t sustainable until I found Dr. Paul Saladino on instagram talking about the carnivore/animal based diet and seeing how it helps people. So, I went down that rabbit hole. That’s where I found more doctors and information on how meat is anti-inflammatory and helps other clear their skins. I will post reference to these doctor below. So, I told myself why not as I have already change everything and decided to take that leap. The feeling of eating meat everyday was a dream and after 6 month of trying it so much has changed with my body.

The first month I lost like 10 lbs from 200 lbs and notice a considerable change in how I feel and the energy improved. I did get some feeling of withdrawal, but I was able to push through it by eating more eggs or even beef. After six months, I lost up to 25 lbs and I started to hover around 180 Lbs, but the physical changes are huge. I am no longer bloated and my abs were showing. This was a first even though I was on a SAD before my body was never like this. I have been very active from high school and my body has fluctuate, but it was not healthy because I had the idea I can work out really hard and eat anything I want. My body shows that I am reaching that metabolic dysfunction and I am start to bloat from all I’ve been eating. The carnivore diet has been a saving grace with my health and gave me such a huge confidence boost. From a physical aspect, I am stronger and I can handle more when it comes to working out. From a mental aspect, my brain is able to function with no fog or loss of thoughts.

People from the carnivore community have mention that their mental cognition improves and remove what they call “brain fog.” From my experience, this is very true because my brain starts to switch from running on glucose from all the carbs to fats from all the meat I was eating. There are studies showing that ketones are the main fuel source for our brain and feeding it sugar just doesn’t allow our brain to work properly. You can find a lot of the studies from the doctor I mention below. This mental clarity allows me to be so much more driven and comprehend things without fog that you need to navigate through. I am grateful for the benefits that the carnivore has done for me. Based on my blood type AB, I have a higher chance of getting Alzheimer and if you can get your species specific diet in check these should not show. There has been cases of Alzheimer increasing within United States because of diabetes and obesity being rampant. The addiction to sugar is what causing all that harm to us. Being on the carnivore diet, allows you to cure or remiss your diabetes because there is no sugar triggering your insulin. I have yet to check my A1C indicator for diabetes, but I know I will no longer be prediabetic.

Just keep in mind the carnivore diet is not an end all be all for us, but it has helped so many people in all kinds of aspect of their life. This has made me feel better with my skin clearing and my cognitive health. The fact that every species has a species specific diet will allow their body to developed fully. We as human run on fats and is definitely something we should look into more. The companies and society will try to stop us from doing that because of whatever agenda they have. Below I have added what I have been eating for you to start with.
